Who we are
Waves of Change Sandbaai is a community-driven environmental and development organisation, established with the aim of bringing people together to protect, restore and enhance our environment through partnerships, volunteering and community action.
We believe that real change happens when a community decides to work together.
We are not here to replace existing organisations, businesses, residents or the Overstrand Municipality.
Instead, we want to build partnerships, support existing initiatives, connect people and create new opportunities where we can make a greater impact together.
Our vision
Our vision is simple:
A cleaner, greener, safer and more beautiful Sandbaai for all.
We envision a Sandbaai where residents, businesses, schools, churches, conservation organisations, volunteers, community organisations and the Overstrand Municipality work together to protect, preserve and enhance our environment and community.
Our strategic focus areas
Strategic Action and Community Partnership Plan, 2026–2030
Our five-year Strategic Action and Community Partnership Plan focuses on the areas where we can make a real and lasting difference.
Coastal Clean Sandbaai
Regular beach and coastal clean-ups, keeping our shoreline and the paths along it clear of litter and waste.
Invasive alien plant removal
Clearing alien vegetation that crowds out indigenous species, drains groundwater and increases fire risk.
Fynbos restoration
Restoring and protecting the indigenous fynbos that makes this coastline what it is, and the biodiversity it supports.
Improving open public spaces
Caring for the parks, verges, walkways and open spaces that everyone in Sandbaai shares.
Waste management and recycling
Practical recycling and waste-reduction initiatives, and helping households and businesses to waste less.
Community safety and security
Supporting the safety of residents and visitors, in partnership with the structures already doing this work.
Youth development
Skills development, mentorship and programmes that give young people in our community real opportunities.
Health and well-being
Initiatives that support the physical and mental well-being of the Sandbaai community.
Emergency preparedness and disaster resilience
Helping the community prepare for and respond quickly to fires, floods and other emergencies.
Business and community development
Working with local businesses to build a stronger, more sustainable local economy alongside a healthier environment.
These projects cannot be achieved by one person or one organisation alone. We need Sandbaai.

Membership is free
Membership of Waves of Change Sandbaai NPC is completely free.
We simply ask that you become involved wherever possible by contributing your time, skills and ideas to help us make a difference in Sandbaai. You can do as little or as much as you are able.
Your dedication, ideas and support are what count. Your involvement is valuable.
There are no membership fees.

We believe that collaboration must be based on mutual respect — we are here to complement one another, not compete with one another.
Where possible, we initiate and manage projects, but always with and for our community.
We listen. We share. We plan. We work together.

Every one of us has unique skills, experience or ideas that can make a real difference through Waves of Change.
That is why we invite you to serve on our Executive Committee, volunteer, or bring your expertise.
Whether your passion or expertise lies in community development, environmental conservation, project management, relationship building or any other relevant field, your contribution matters.
